Nice to meet you! I am Lucas Kuen Kule’a Chung. I am a creative technologist and consulting inventor, with training from ITP, NYU Tisch's school on emerging technologies, as well as a background in architecture. My computer is adequately confusing, and my keyboard makes a satisfying clacking sound. My favorite projects combine ambitious constraints, digital technologies, hand-engineered components, and someone to enjoy it. On the weekends, you can find me sketching spaces that don't exist yet and hand-building furniture that now does.

I am a map enthusiast, robot builder, and new tech early adopter in a family of designers. My dad was one of South Korea's founding graphic designers, and my three year-old is a promising O-gauge train engineer.

Brilliant Labs
  • Designed, developed, and executed strategy for customer and user experiences that integrated shoping experience, app experience, and device interface for a soon to be launched wearable tech product at Brilliant Labs, an early-stage startup.
  • Designed and built Monocle Webflow website and implemented Shopify integration.
  • Designed Brilliant Monocle mobile app and Monocle device HUD beginning with overarching UX strategy, through user flow diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Facilitated workshops on defining brand core brand values, strategic goals, and target demographics in order to most efficiently utilize our limited resources effectively.

  • Designed and oversaw build-out of numerous interactive installations, activations, and physical designs while implementing strategic design concepts and coordinating with fabricators, printers, graphic designers, and field producers.
  • Developed projects through rough concept to final execution branded experiences that often incorporated digital content and interactive elements.
  • Clients included HPE, Nike, New Balance, Pepsi, Target, Wired, CNN, and Great Big Story.

  • Developed spatial and interior design concepts through drawing, modeling, and rendering while adhering to demanding project schedules and changing conditions.
  • Coordinated with graphic designers, creative technologists and strategists in addition to engineers, builders and technical consultants.
  • Clients included New Stand, Hudson Yards, Target, Sonos, Verizon, and Google.

Architectural Designer

Handel Architects
  • Collaborated with and subsequently managed teams of 3-7 members while working on projects ranging from 180,000 SF condo towers to 1.2 million SF mixed use building complexes.
  • Performed massing and programming studies, planning and zoning area analyses, and coordinated with engineering teams.
  • Produced several drawings sets of various levels of fidelity from schematic design to construction documents.
  • Prepared and delivered client presentations while noting and responding to client feedback.
